This book is filled with the research, extensive resources, analysis of sound healing, and its effect on living things. An accompanying CD of psychoacoustically designed music offers a direct experience of the sound effect to try out.

Review: "Required reading for any healer or musician. The Power of Sound is the first important book on sound therapy for the twenty-first century. It should be read by anyone interested in the true nature of music’s potential as a healing modality"

3. The 7 Secrets of Sound Healing by Jonathan Goldman

Jonathan is a renowned sound healing practitioner and author of the books "Healing Sounds: The Power of Harmonics" and "The Humming Effect: Sound Healing for Health and Happiness". This particular book shares basic principles and importance of sound therapy while the practical information and exercises provide an interactive understanding of how to use sound as a healing modality

Review: "Not really “secrets”, but more like the principles through which sound works, this little book has got it all—Information! Techniques! Exercises! And interesting stories and anecdotes that illustrate the different ways of how sound can heal and transform."

4. Sound Medicine: How to Use the Ancient Science of Sound to Heal the Body and Mind by Kulreet Chaudhary M.D.

A leading neurologist, neuroscientist and practitioner of Ayurvedic medicine explains the healing power of sound, showing you how it can be used to improve the mental and physical wellbeing.

Review: "Dr. Chaudhary gives a powerful story of her own journey to becoming a doctor and discusses the emerging science of sound medicine! It discusses mantras, chakras, and how to determine what Dosha you are in ayurvedic medicine. Phenomenal read!"

5. Vibrational Healing Through the Chakras: With Light, Color, Sound, Crystals, and Aromatherapy by Joy Gardner

We mentioned in our previous post [The Science of Healing with Native American Flute] that the vibrations of the body easily go "out of tune". The Vibrational Healing Through the Chakras provides lots of up-to-date information on the use of vibrational tools to help a person who experienced physical or emotional stress. A great reference book!

Review: "Gardner has combined 30 years of study, experience and exploration in a comprehensive overview. Each section of the book integrates a review of literature and Gardner's experience applying the healing modality with clients. She is very clear that what works for her, is her resonance with the stones or techniques and each practitioner needs to find their own truth in the process. Gardner gives clear instructions on how she approaches the different techniques with ample examples."

6. Vibrational Medicine: The #1 Handbook of Subtle-Energy Therapies by Richard Gerber

Vibrational Medicine has gained widespread acceptance by individuals, schools, and health-care institutions nationwide as the textbook of choice for the study of alternative medicine. Trained in a variety of alternative therapies as well as conventional Western medicine, Dr. Gerber provides an encyclopedic overview of energetic healing with a model based on Einstein's physics of energy.

Review: "This book is written by an MD and helps one understand deeper relationships in the body and how energy informs our body and soul. Some of it is pretty grounded and accessible, some gets cosmic, but it all is tied together with science underpinnings and some good studies."

7. Tuning the Human Biofield: Healing with Vibrational Sound Therapy by Eileen Day McKusick

There is a lot of useful information here! And before you ask. YES, you can do sound balancing with any instrument, such as tuning forks, gongs, singing bowls, drums, etc. However, the BioField Tuning is a term reserved for certified practitioners and requires further training and certification that the author offers on her website with paid courses and virtual trainings.

Review: "Recommendation is using quality tuning forks, as well as frequencies that resonate with you. So in other words, use your intuition. She gives some ideas to try out with unweighted forks. But, I was hoping there would be more, for example: something on how to use weighted tuning forks on the body. Still, it's a great primer for why tuning forks work in sound healing."
